TOP CATERING AWARD FOR BAXTERSMITH MANAGER

Rachel Carter (32), a catering manager for independent business caterer BaxterSmith, has won a prestigious national catering award. She has been named Contract Catering Unit Manager of the year by Cost Sector Catering, one of the UK's top specialist publications.

The award, sponsored by Nestlé, was presented to Rachel at a gala dinner at the Hilton London Metropole on 5 March.

Rachel is catering manager at the Scottish & Newcastle Retail head office in Northampton where she has worked since it wasd by BaxterSmith two years ago. The facility provides staff catering and an extensive hospitality function for the board of directors and guests.

BaxterSmith managing director Mike Smith says:
"Rachel's approach to catering is superb and this award recognises her enormous talents. She has built an excellent relationship with both her own highly committed catering team and with the client. She is imaginative and dynamic, creating a monthly programme of promotions in the restaurant that continues to attract and satisfy Scottish & Newcastle employees. Catering sales have increased 28 per cent thanks to Rachel's marketing efforts."

Rachel Carter comments on her award:
" I would like to share this award with my brilliant catering team at Scottish & Newcastle. I trained and worked as a chef before moving into management in 2000, so I understand and value the hard work they do to please our client. I am delighted that my career move to BaxterSmith has been so successful and I am looking forward to new challenges in the future."
